ROTTEN APPLES
How do I even begin to describe this tv show? If you are looking for your not so average superhero show, where we begin to question how good are the good guys, watch this immediately. It has everything from laser babies to a lot of people imploding. It’s everything Marvel is not, imagining what superheroes would really act like given all the power they have and not to mention it still manages to be hilarious. It’s absolutely thrilling to watch and the soundtrack is impeccable as well.
“My father was bipolar. One night, when I was ten, he tried to smother me with a Hello Kitty duvet” - Frenchie
One standout episode: Season 1, Episode 1 ‘The Name of the Game’
The first episode really sets out how this whole show is going to go down and my god it really shocks you. Some would say it would blow your mind and rip your arms right off.

This tv show is so unique and simple yet beautifully produced. The writing is spectacular and the characters are flawed yet easy to empathize with. There are modern day issues being brought up with characters that are often not portrayed on tv which makes it all the more relatable. These are actors that look like real and act like normal people, which allows you to be immersed in the show from beginning to end and relate to the problems brought up.
One standout episode: Season 2, Episode 8 ‘Thanksgiving’
This episode was beautifully done and really hits you in the feels. It deals with struggles that often arise during everyone’s thanksgiving with family and it portrays the characters in a realistic light.

If you need a show that’s not too deep yet will actually make you laugh out loud, here it is. Based in Toronto, it focuses on a Korean family who runs a convenience store. The jokes are never ending and only get funnier. It’s a show for casual viewing, yet after binging all 4 seasons these characters all go through major development. If you are a fellow Torontonian, many of the jokes will make you relate on a highly personal level and you will be able to see Toronto in a new light. I have even gone to a restaurant that the characters recommended because of how good this show is.
One standout episode: Season 4, Episode 5 ‘Thinkin About Inkin’
This episode is riddled with jokes and even gets you to stop and think. Would you get a tattoo written in Sanskrit for a crush? Probably, or at least that’s what one of the characters would do.

No wonder this show swept away all the awards at the Emmys. I was sincerely doubtful of this show. It seemed like a ripoff of Arrested Development and the characters appeared to be really obnoxious and annoying. However, do not let any previous bias stop you from watching this show because if I do say so myself, it is a masterpiece. This show is not for casual viewing, as the storyline progresses over seasons so you should start from the beginning. The jokes are never ending and without a laugh track (thank goodness) you can decide what’s funny or not. However, you will be laughing at everything because it truly is a masterpiece.
One standout episode: Season 2, Episode 8 ‘Milk Money’
This episode has it all: entering the dark and illegal industry of raw milk, police intervention and political rivalry. It’s full of big laughs and exquisitely delivered one liners.

This tv show is a very interesting take on British crime dramas. The scenes only take place in an interrogation room, where you begin to learn who the interrogated is and what they have done. Each episode has a different “criminal” and some of them play out in ways much like the real world, where it does not always have a happy ending. Each episode is intense and suspenseful, where you begin rethinking everything about the justice system.
One standout episode: Season 2, Episode 2 ‘Alex’
This episode leaves you feeling a large array of emotions. In less than an hour, this episode lets you into the world of business and sexism and leaves you wondering what is wrong with society. This episode is a will leave you in suspense and is an absolute must watch.

This show is a spinoff from The Good Wife and might I just say The Good Fight is so much better. Each episode deals with current political, legal and societal issues that affect us all, especially Americans. Has this show convinced me to become a lawyer? Perhaps most definitely. If being a lawyer is anything how this show represents it, count me in. This show feels like a documentary of the current problems in America and it describes what the rest of the world is feeling perfectly.
One standout episode: Season 3, Episode 8 ‘The One Where Kurt Saves Diane’
This episode was so political that CBS had a scene redacted. In protest, the writers of the show decided to keep the redacted scene in the episode and for 8 and a half seconds there is a sign reading, “cbs has censored this content”. Now if that’s not going to convince you to watch this show, I don’t know what will.
